BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Martha Pendley is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kingsport, where she serves on the Worship and Outreach Committees.She has a background in Early Childhood and Human Services. She has been on two Mission Trips to Guatemala, and loves being involved with local community outreach. She served as coordinator of the Oasis VBS this July titled "GOD IS OUR OASIS."
April Morrison began visiting as a guest of the Oasis in October 2014 and has served as a volunteer since November 2014. In early 2016, she accepted a position as the new Spiritual Director. April has a passion for discipleship and loves the Scripture verse, which says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)"
Shantell Bogle is a native of the Tri-Cities / Kingsport area. She is married to her husband of 21 years and has a daughter who is 17 years of age. She has a background in media, advertising, public relations, and human resources, as well as having 20 years of ministry experience, serving since the age of 16 in different capacities such as, youth minister, women’s ministry director, community outreach director, evangelist and worship pastor.
Her heart reflects “the Lord’s fast” spoken of in Isaiah 58: 6-7
Pam Robinson is the proud mother of a son named Chris, a daughter-in-law Cassy, and a daughter named April who passed 9 years ago. Pam considers her children a blessing from God. She is grateful to God, and she knows had it not been for Him she would never have endured the loss of her daughter. Pam credits God for putting loving and caring people in her life to help her through this difficult time. She desires to give back to God and to minister to others in their time of need. Pam's favorite bible passage is 1Corinthians 13:4-5 Love is patient and kind, love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude.
Candy has a long history of working with women and children in at-risk situations. She came to Oasis to help a guest learn how to hem her pants. From there Candy developed a sewing program that both offers classes and one-on-one instruction. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors as secretary. She relies on II Timothy 4:17a, "The Lord stood by me and strengthened me".
Donna is the Volunteer Coordinator for The Oasis. She says, "Helping women help themselves is a passion of mine. God has richly blessed me and my prayer is to be a blessing to the Oasis family."
Helen Baylor is a former educator and currently works as an office volunteer at First Presbyterian Church of Kingsport where she has been a member for fifteen years. She is also serving as deacon assigned to ten families. She has been a long time volunteer at the Presbyterian Clothes Closet which distributes gently used clothing weekly to the Kingsport community at no cost, along with new shoes at the start of each school year.
Among other things, she enjoys reading, walking, watching movies, and traveling with good friends.
She is pleased to be involved with the Oasis, joining other members of strong faith who are
dedicated to compassionately providing for and supporting women in this area.
April Southerland is a 6th grade math teacher at North Middle School. Teaching math is her passion and she enjoys making it enjoyable and relevant for her students. April loves baseball, planning lessons, reading, and learning new technology. She has a dog named Charlie and tries to spend as much time as she can with her baby nephew, Ethan.
Denise Hensley is an active member of First Christian Church in Johnson City Tennessee, where she serves on the Greeting Committee. Denise also participates in a monthly luncheon called Faithfully Business, which is a Christian business women’s ministry sponsored by Summit Leadership Foundation. Denise has 4 beautiful grandchildren.
She loves to cook, listen to music, watch the Hallmark movies and spend time with family and friends. Denise has a favorite bible verse which is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It reminds her that God has a perfect plan for her and her future. She is excited to see what part The Oasis will play in that plan.
Missy Quillen is married with 2 children. She started volunteering at The Oasis in August of 2015 at a low time in her life. She realized that she needed to get out, be with people and try to be a help. On her first day, she felt such a special connection between everyone, no matter their different walks. Missy came expecting to help the ladies, but was helped and blessed in turn.
She has no doubt that God lead her to the Oasis. Missy is excited to be on the board, and will also continue to volunteer. Missy would like each Oasis guest to learn this for their own life. No matter what we have done, or come from, God is there for us. One of her favorite bible verses is Isaiah 41:10--Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

I have taught for 11 years, and I feel very blessed to be a teacher. I love building the kiddos confidence in themselves and watching them grow in their learning! Colleen started Oasis as a volunteer in the summer of 2017 leading daily devotions. She enjoys getting to know the ladies and talking to them about the Lord.
